Fundamentals of Cybersecurity with Certification Preparation

Build essential skills to understand and protect against cyber threats. This course introduces the core concepts of cybersecurity and prepares you for entry-level international certifications.

About the course

Cybersecurity is a critical competence in today’s digital world, for both businesses and individuals. This course provides a solid foundation in key areas such as network security, identity and access management, risk assessment, and incident response. The program is aligned with the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) framework, making it relevant for participants who wish to pursue international certification after completing the course.

Course skills

After completing the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand fundamental cybersecurity concepts and terminology
  • Identify common threats, vulnerabilities, and attack methods
  • Explain the principles of network, application, and data security
  • Apply basic risk management and access control practices
  • Recognize ethical, legal, and compliance requirements in cybersecurity

Course structure
  • Module 1: Introduction to cybersecurity and the threat landscape
  • Module 2: Security principles – confidentiality, integrity, availability
  • Module 3: Network and system security basics
  • Module 4: Identity, access management, and risk assessment
  • Module 5: Incident response, compliance, and certification preparation

Assessment is based on online quizzes and a short case assignment. Successful completion awards 5 ECTS credits.

Learning methods

The course combines online lectures with demonstrations and guided exercises that allow you to practice key skills. A final workshop on campus focuses on case-based learning, where participants work together to analyze a simulated security incident and propose solutions.

Entry requirements

Basic IT knowledge is required. Participants should have either prior education, vocational training, or relevant work experience in a field where digital competence is part of their responsibilities.
