About the course

Agile Project Management in Practice introduces you to the principles and methods behind agile ways of working. You will explore frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban, and learn how they can be applied in real projects – both within IT and in other professional fields. The course combines theory with case studies and team-based simulations, providing practical skills that can be applied immediately in the workplace.

Course skills

After completing the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the core values and principles of Agile project management

  • Apply Scrum practices such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives

  • Use Kanban boards to visualize and manage workflows

  • Employ digital tools (e.g. Trello, Jira, MS Planner) to organize tasks and track progress

  • Reflect on your role in an agile team and contribute to continuous improvement

Course structure
  • Module 1: Introduction to Agile and the Agile Manifesto – history, values, principles
  • Module 2: Scrum in practice – roles, events, and artifacts
  • Module 3: Kanban in practice – visualizing workflows and managing flow
  • Module 4: Tools and simulations – applying Agile methods in a team project
  • Module 5: Reflection and assessment – lessons learned and continuous improvement

Assessment is based on active participation in team simulations and a short reflection paper. Successful completion awards 5 ECTS credits.

Learning methods

This course combines the flexibility of online learning with the quality of in-person teaching. Through five interactive online lectures, you will gain insights into agile principles and see practical demonstrations of tools and methods. These sessions are designed to encourage dialogue, questions, and reflection.

The program culminates in a full-day on-campus seminar, where you and your fellow participants will apply what you have learned in team-based simulations and case work. This blended format ensures both convenience and depth: you learn at a distance while still benefiting from the energy, collaboration, and quality feedback that only a physical classroom can provide.

Entry requirements

Participants are expected to have basic IT knowledge and familiarity with digital collaboration tools. Admission requires either prior higher education, vocational training, or relevant work experience that provides a foundation for engaging with project-based learning.
